Nepafenac is a prodrug that converts to Amfenac, a potent COX-1 and COX-2 inhibitor that blocks the synthesis of prostaglandins, the primary mediators of ocular inflammation and pain.
This mechanism provides targeted anti-inflammatory relief, reducing post-operative discomfort and enhancing visual recovery.
Prodrug Advantage: Converts to active Amfenac only inside ocular tissues — minimizes surface irritation.
Potent Anti-Inflammatory Action: Reduces pain, redness, and swelling effectively.
Excellent Ocular Tolerance: Gentle on the eye with minimal stinging or burning.
Enhanced Penetration: Reaches posterior ocular tissues for optimal efficacy.
